Implementation and Translational Research

Translate scientific discovery into value and practical public health interventions.

Centered on a One Health framework, ITR will integrate human, animal, and environmental health perspectives to develop and implement joint activities, including validation of molecular biomarkers and the establishment of genomic and metagenomic surveillance systems to monitor antimicrobial and insecticide resistance.

PRIME and VBD will lead the molecular and field components, CTM will manage clinical validation and translational studies that include the design, testing, and implementation of PoC diagnostic tools (e.g DxHub One Health @ PoC), the validation of molecular biomarkers, and the establishment of genomic and metagenomic surveillance systems to monitor antimicrobial and insecticide resistance, and PPS will ensure integration into health systems and policies.

ITR will also promote the implementation of science and capacity building by engaging communities, policymakers, industry, and healthcare professionals.

Collaborative training programs, workshops, and mentorship activities will enhance research translation, while interdisciplinary publications, innovation pipelines, and policy briefs will ensure that scientific outputs inform evidence-based interventions.

Through these cross-cutting activities, the ITR program will reinforce GHTM’s leadership in translational research, accelerating the transformation of scientific knowledge into impactful and sustainable global health solutions.
