Advance equitable and responsible research collaborations.
Grounded in two reinforcing axes: the Research Fairness Initiative (RFI) and Fair Research Contracting (FRC). These actions will prioritize partnerships within CPLP, promoting fairness, transparency, and shared capacity in research design, implementation, and dissemination.
Under the RFI, GHTM will update and validate its self-assessment tool to include new indicators on AI ethics, community engagement, and data-sharing fairness. RFI workshops and joint inter-group sessions will foster a shared culture of research equity. A minimum of two capacity-building activities (1 workshop and 1 inter-group session) will be implemented each year, with participation tracked across RGs and CPLP partners. Each group will integrate RFI metrics into project design, ensuring that equity, inclusion, and ethical governance become measurable components of all research initiatives.
The FRC axis will build institutional and partner capacity for fair contracting and benefit sharing through targeted training, advisory support, and pilot projects across GHTM research groups. Training modules will address intellectual property, authorship, legal negotiation, and guidelines for equitable benefit-sharing in collaborative settings. The institutional monitoring system, incorporating the new FRC and RFI indicators developed through the axis activities, will support the follow-up of inter-group project proposals, enabling systematic assessment of their progress, effectiveness, and institutional uptake.
