The European Researchers’ Night (ERN) is an annual cultural event dedicated to promoting scientific knowledge, bringing scientists and the public together for an evening of research sharing and discovery. Held on the last Friday of September, ENR takes place simultaneously across multiple European cities, offering hundreds of free activities.
This year, organized by ITQB NOVA in collaboration with the Municipality of Oeiras, ERN brought together dozens of organizations to offer diverse activities, fostering public engagement with science and showcasing the work of scientists. With a focus on inclusivity, the event aimed to amplify underrepresented voices and highlight the essential role of society and schools in advancing scientific research.
GHTM & IHMT-NOVA took part in this event at Marina de Oeiras on September 27, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., one of several venues across Portugal hosting NEI activities. NEI in Oeiras is part of a national initiative, coordinated by ITQB NOVA with the support of i3S and Ciência Viva, reaching cities throughout Portugal.
Our researchers were on site to present our latest work, sharing insights on the following research topics:
- MosquitoWEB with Prof. Dr. Teresa Novo and Dr. Filipe Lopes
- VIASEF with Prof. Dr. Carla Sousa
- Superbugs with Dr. Sofia Santos Costa and Dr. Liliana Rodrigues and PhD Students Mariana Andrade, Catarina Morais, Marta Leal, Joana Neves, Débora Marques and Inês Pereira.
- EuCARE with Prof. Dr. Ana Abecasis
We extend our gratitude to the entire community, who came out in large numbers eager to learn about the research conducted by our investigators. Congratulations as well to our colleagues from the many participating institutions, especially to ITQB NOVA, for organizing yet another vibrant edition of the European Researchers’ Night.
