The second edition of the course “Python Applied to Biomedical Sciences“, which took place between 20 – 24 May, 2024, was organized and instructed by the GHTM researchers Filipe Lopes and Sofia Seabra.
“In this course we covered from basic concepts of Python programming, specific examples of its use in Biomedical Sciences, such as programmatic access to genetics and bibliography databases, collection and visualization of biodiversity data on maps, to concepts of Machine Learning and classification using neural networks”, said the researchers.
This year’s edition had 7 participants. The students have prepared projects based on the concepts presented at the course that will be accessible at https://github.com/xfil/IHMT-PythonCourse-2024
The main objective of the course was to allow students to understand the functioning of the code and potential uses and applications of this programming language in different areas of research and to contribute to a greater knowledge in the area of information technologies and its interface with other areas of science.
