Sindy Maciel Silva is a public health professional with a MSc in Public Health Policy, a BSc in Public Health, a specialization in Data Science and in Health Law, and since 2024 she is a PhD student in International Health at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, NOVA University of Lisbon.

With more than 10 years of experience in the public and academic sectors, she has contributed to the implementation of health policies and programs, the management of care networks and the development of innovation projects. In Brazil, she worked as a Technical Assistant at the Ministry of Justice (2014-2016) and as a Technical Consultant at the Ministry of Health (2016-2019). In Portugal, she worked as a Research Manager at the National School of Public Health at NOVA University Lisbon (2021-2024) within the Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC). In the field of research, she has participated as a Researcher in 3 projects, and has experience in scoping reviews, data analysis and evaluation of health programs and policies.

She is a member of Global Health and Tropical Medicine (GHTM), EvalYouth Brasil and the Brazilian Monitoring and Evaluation Network. She defends practice based on scientific evidence and seeks to contribute to initiatives aimed at sustainable development.

Sindy’s research interests include the evaluation of public health policies, climate change, and health inequalities. Her academic background includes research in scoping reviews, data analysis and a strong interest in epidemiological and environmental health studies. Technically, she is proficient in Python for data processing and analysis and has experience in machine learning, data visualization tools and in using public health datasets to produce real-world evidence and promote evidence-based practices in the health sector. She has contributed as a researcher in 4 projects, co-authored 3 peer-reviewed articles (1 as first author) and co-authored a book, 2 review protocols, 3 abstracts and 1 poster at international conferences.
