Diagnosis of HIV infection is based on invasive methods such as blood collection. Since sputum is the main biological product for tuberculosis diagnosis, we aim to develop a non-invasive methodology for the simultaneous detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and HIV in sputum samples of individuals suspected of co-infection using superparamagnetic nanoparticles for capturing the target.
