MedTROP project is a partnership between Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in Portugal and the National School of Public Health / Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, Rio de Janeiro – Brasil. The project aims to make science accessible to citizens. It also aims to reuse, in the future, scientific data in the field of tropical medicine and public health. The propose is the society´s sustainable development under the umbrella of the: “Agenda 2030 para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável”. It focused in three different components:
Content: Develop a directory of tropical medicine and public health in open access, to make the Portuguese a scientific language;
Health literacy: Improving preventive skills of health workforce, as well as the control and eradication of tropical diseases. The authors want to do this giving information in open access and training for science and literacy and information;
Literacy and Citizen Communication: To create communication channels and science information for citizens. To do this is necessary to spread science results to the public, researchers, policy makers and local communities.
