On 20 August 2025, the Manhiça Health Research Centre (CISM), in Mozambique, will host the webinar “Impact of Climate Change on Vector Control“, taking place at 09:00 (Lisbon time) / 10:00 (Maputo time). The event is organised in collaboration with several international partners, including GHMT IHMT.
The webinar will explore in depth how climate change affects efforts to eliminate vector-borne diseases, such as those transmitted by mosquitoes. Guest speakers include Professor Henrique Silveira, Full Professor at IHMT NOVA and Researcher at the GHTM, who will deliver the presentation “New Tools for Vector Control“.
Marking World Mosquito Day, the event will provide a forum for scientific and community dialogue on how climate factors — including rising temperatures, shifting rainfall patterns, and changes in humidity levels — influence the behaviour, reproduction, and distribution of vectors, with direct consequences for disease transmission.
Participation is free and open to all.
