GHTM Group: Population health, policies and services, PPS non PhD members
PhD Candidate in Tropical Diseases and Global Health, currently serving as the Director of the Healthcare Service Provision Department at the Ministry of Public Health of Guinea-Bissau.
Over the years, I have developed strong skills in public health, immigrant population health, clinical medicine, and pediatrics, with a particular focus on research and clinical trials. My goal is to bridge the gap between clinical practice and research, transforming the challenges encountered in medical practice into meaningful research questions that can influence health policies and improve healthcare practices.
I am known for my excellence in patient care, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a methodical, quality-focused approach to healthcare and research.
My interests lie at the intersection of public health, immigrant population health, and clinical medicine/pediatrics, with a commitment to evaluating and contributing to the formulation of public policies that ensure equitable access to healthcare for vulnerable populations.
I conduct research within the PPS group, as part of the cohort studies team led by Professor Maria Rosário O. Martins. My work focuses on exploring the social determinants of health, particularly migration and its impact on health and child development, including healthcare access, in the pre- and post-COVID-19 epidemic periods in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.
