Henrique Silveira joins Portuguese Health and Environment Council scientific council

11 Novembro, 2022

Henrique Silveira, full professor of IHMT-NOVA and VBD-GHTM researcher, accepted the invitation to be a member of the Scientific Council of the Health and Environment Portuguese Council (CPSA).

Created from the need to intervene in the issues of climate change, environmental degradation and its impact on health, CPSA is a new entity committed to mitigate the impact of climate change on human health, and also to reduce the ecological footprint in this sector, which is responsible for 4.4% of the emission of greenhouse gases.

Launched on 31st october, this entity brings toghether 37 health organizations, inlcuding five professional orders, associations, scientific societies, laboratories, private health groups, the Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Lisboa and the pharmaceutical industry.

Among the purposes of this new entity is the preparation of the health system for unexpected events, inlcuding the possibility of new pandemics, as well as the creation of joint measures to turn the health sector itself more sustainable.
