GHTM Sessions | Celebrating New Research Journeys

October 31, 2025

📅 Date: 5 November 2025
🕒 Time: 11:00-13:00
📍 Location: ZOOM & SALA FRAGA DE AZEVEDO

Join us for a special series of GHTM Session dedicated to celebrating our researchers who have recently signed new contracts — a recognition of their achievements, dedication, and growing impact in global health research.

During this session, we will also learn more about the projects that José Pedro Gil (IHC-GHTM) and  Sofia Santos Costa (THOP-GHTM) will be working on at GHTM | IHMT NOVA:

“Plasmodium falciparum Lumefantrine resistance: 20 years after the first contact”: José Pedro Gil will revisit 20 years of Lumefantrine pressure and P. falciparum evolution — from the first signals of drug response in Africa, to current evidence showing how the parasite is now finding resistance solutions.

“Exploring efflux inhibition to counteract antimicrobial resistance and biofilms in staphylococci”, Sofia Santos Costa will present her research on efflux inhibition to counteract antimicrobial resistance and biofilms in staphylococci, within a One Health framework — including drug repurposing strategies and the use of Galleria mellonella infection models.

These sessions highlight the variety of research paths within GHTM and represents a significant step towards strengthening our scientific community and fostering future collaborations.

If you are a GHTM member, you will receive the details of the session by e-mail. If you are not a GHTM member and would like to join the session, please contact us at ghtm-info@ihmt.unl.pt.
