VAX-TRUST: GHTM-IHMT-NOVA hosted the seminar on strategies to tackle vaccine hesitancy

Between 24th and 26th of October, the GHTM-IHMT-NOVA hosted a seminar to reflect on strategies for health professionals to address vaccine hesitancy, an event included in the workplan of the project intitled VAX-TRUST: Addressing vaccine hesitancy in Europe.

This initiative involved near two dozen researchers from the consortium and took as its starting point the results of these interventions, as part of the evaluation carried out by the GHTM-IHMT-NOVA team. The interventions implemented in seven countries were analyzed with the aim of raising health professionals’ awareness of the complexity of vaccine hesitancy and, in this way, increasing their knowledge and enabling them to have more effective contact with hesitant parents.

Reflection on the challenges faced in the design and implementation of the interventions and, mostly, on the results achieved and the lessons that emerged from these journeys has made it possible to establish an overall perspective of these processes which, in the final phase of the project, will be translated into recommendations to facilitate the development of evidence-based interventions aimed at health professionals, as well as European policies on the subject.

The VAX-TRUST project runs until February 2024 and is funded by the European Union’s HORIZON 2020 program. The GHTM-IHMT is part of this consortium of 10 partners from 7 European countries, through a team led by Tiago Correia, professor and GHTM Researcher, which includes the researchers Cátia Sá Guerreiro, Rita Morais and André Beja, all member of PPS-GHTM research group.
