NOVA champions represent Portugal at Expo 2025 Osaka

July 25, 2025

NOVA University Lisbon has officially marked its participation in the Osaka 2025 World Expo with a tribute to 36 researchers, lecturers and students who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the advancement of knowledge, innovation and the institution’s international profile. This recognition is manifested in the form of a video compilation, showcasing the testimonies of NOVA’s selected “Champions” and celebrating their remarkable journeys, which embody the university’s commitment to science, innovation, and sustainability.

Two representatives of the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IHMT NOVA) were among these honourees: Professor Miguel Viveiros and Professor Isabel Couto are recognised for their exemplary academic and scientific careers.

This acknowledgement forms part of the Expo’s Academic Week, which is scheduled to take place from 23 to 28 July at the Portugal Pavilion. The programme of events at the University will be highlighted from 26 to 28 July in the Ocean Room, under the theme ‘Ocean: Blue Dialogue’.

This section will provide information regarding the selected ‘Champions’ and the projects that serve to reinforce NOVA’s global presence and impact on a global scale.
