Researcher, Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical – Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Associate researcher and Professor of the Graduate Program at the Institute of Collective Health (ISC) of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). Executive Coordinator of the Observatory of Political Analysis in Health (OAPS / Brazil). Member of the Coordinating Committee of the Research Network on Primary Health Care.

A physician, she holds a master’s and doctoral degrees in Collective Health from Federal University of Bahia. She is one of the coordinators of the Research Program on Evaluation and Training in Primary Health Care at ISC/UFBA and she was deputy of PPGSC from 2015-2017. Since 1994 she has worked in many partnerships projects with health services providers and the Brazilian Ministry of Health, focusing on developing and evaluation of primary care interventions as The Family Health Program in Brazil. Her main research areas are: primary health care, policy and program evaluation, and evaluation of health promotion interventions, some of them in collaboration with New York University and University of Montreal.
