WHO Collaborating Centre Participates in the First Global Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres in Lyon

April 8, 2026

The WHO Collaborating Centre for Health Workforce Policy and Planning (WHOCC) at Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (IHMT-NOVA) took part in the first Global Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres, with the theme “Collaborating for a Healthier Future”, held from 7 to 9 April 2026 in Lyon, represented by Tiago Correia, Coordinator of the WHO Collaborating Centre and member of the PPS-GHTM Research Group.

This landmark event brought together WHO Collaborating Centres, leadership from the World Health Organization (WHO), Member States, and international partners to strengthen collaboration, align strategic priorities, and reflect on the role of this global network in advancing health worldwide.

The WHOCC also participated in an informal meeting of WHO Collaborating Centres working in the area of human resources for health, held on 7 April at the WHO Academy. The session aimed to share ongoing and planned activities, present the WHO programme of work in this field, identify common challenges, and explore opportunities for collaboration across institutions.

In the scope of the World Health Day celebrations, the participation in these two key moments reinforces the WHOCC’s commitment to international cooperation and to providing technical and scientific support for the development of health workforce policies and planning, at a time of significant challenges for global health.
