Share the Impact of Your Research: Applications Still Open for NOVA’s Research Impact Narratives Challenge

May 29, 2026

NOVA University Lisbon has launched a new edition of the Research Impact Narratives challenge, inviting researchers from all NOVA Research Units to communicate the impact of their scientific projects through the writing of impact narratives. Applications are open until 8 June 2026.

Through this initiative, NOVA encourages faculty members and researchers to demonstrate how the research they produce contributes not only to the advancement of scientific knowledge, but also to society through social, environmental, political, cultural, technological, economic, and health-related impacts.

The challenge aims to promote clear and accessible science communication by encouraging researchers to present the real-world impact of their work through narratives that can be understood by the general public.

The five best narratives will receive a monetary prize of €2,000 each, in addition to other distinctions outlined in the official regulations of the challenge.

The competition is open to all faculty members and researchers affiliated with any NOVA Organic Unit, regardless of their scientific field or discipline. Scientific projects or initiatives with significant societal impact are eligible, provided they meet the admission criteria described in the official regulations available on the NOVA website.

Applications are open until 8 June 2026 and must be submitted electronically through the official application form.

To support applicants, NOVA also provides guidance materials designed to facilitate the understanding and communication of research impact. Additional information, regulations, and support materials are available on the NOVA website.

Impact narratives recognised in previous editions can be consulted here.
