Registration and abstract submission remain open for the 5th GenomePT Symposium, taking place on 1 July 2026 at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. Researchers working in genomics and related fields are invited to take part in this annual meeting of the Portuguese national infrastructure for genome sequencing and analysis.
The GenomePT Symposium is the annual meeting of the Portuguese national infrastructure for genome sequencing and analysis. The event brings together researchers, clinicians, bioinformaticians, infrastructure platforms, industry representatives and technology providers working across genomics and related omics fields.
The 2026 edition will showcase the latest developments in several key areas, including genome and transcriptome sequencing, bioinformatics and data analysis, clinical and medical genomics, environmental, biodiversity and pathogen genomics, as well as emerging genomic technologies and methodologies.
The scientific programme will feature invited keynote lectures, selected oral communications, poster presentations and technology-focused sessions delivered by industry partners. A highlight of this year’s programme will be a dedicated session on the future of genomic medicine in Portugal, bringing together representatives from strategic national initiatives currently under development.
This session will include contributions from Prof. Cláudio Sunkel, Director of i3S, and Dr. Astrid Vicente, Coordinator of the PT_MedGen Commission. Discussions will address ongoing efforts to strengthen genomic medicine in Portugal, including the recently funded i3S Teaming project and the National Strategy for Genomic Medicine, whose public consultation phase has recently concluded.
Researchers are invited to submit abstracts within the broad field of genome and transcriptome sequencing and analysis.
