The mosquitoWEB citizen science project from Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (IHMT NOVA) was featured at the opening of the exhibition “SUPERBICHOS! Incríveis por Natureza”, held at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento on 24 October 2025.
GHTM | IHMT NOVA was represented by Carla Sousa, Teresa Novo, and Filipe Lopes, researchers from VBD-GHTM Research Group, who joined this initiative dedicated to exploring and promoting the biodiversity of Portugal.
The SUPERBICHOS! exhibition, a collaboration between multiple scientific and cultural institutions, invites the public to discover the “superpowers” of common animals in Portugal — from eyes with thousands of lenses to color-changing bodies, internal compasses, or incredibly strong claws. The exhibition reveals, through science, the extraordinary adaptations and diversity of creatures inhabiting forests, rivers, beaches, and even Portuguese cities.
