The GHTM Scientific Symposium (Jornadas Científicas GHTM) began with great enthusiasm on the morning of April 28th, welcoming researchers, students, and invited speakers to a day of insightful discussions and knowledge exchange in the field of Global Health and Tropical Medicine.
Unfortunately, in the early afternoon, a nationwide power outage affected several regions of Portugal, including Lisbon. As a result of the prolonged energy disruption and the uncertainty surrounding its duration, we were left with no choice but to cancel the remainder of the day’s programme, as well as all scheduled sessions for April 29th.
We deeply regret this unexpected interruption and the inconvenience it may have caused to participants, speakers, and partners. The decision to cancel was made prioritising the safety and logistical viability of the event under the circumstances.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who joined us for the sessions that did take place and to everyone who has expressed understanding and support.
Our team is currently working to reschedule the sessions that were postponed, and we will announce a new date as soon as possible. We remain committed to ensuring that the GHTM Scientific Symposium continues to be a platform for meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and scientific exchange.
