Mozambican researcher Assucênio Hortêncio Chissaque has been honoured with the prestigious Early-Career Talent Alkebulan Award 2025, granted by ACE Southern Africa – Fundación Ramón Areces. The award recognises early-career researchers in the Southern African region whose scientific work demonstrates exceptional excellence.
Assucênio Chissaque, member of PPS-GHTM Research Group, obtained his PhD in Tropical Diseases and Global Health from the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (IHMT NOVA). He was recognised for the exceptional quality of his research conducted during his doctoral and postdoctoral studies, his significant scientific output, and his substantial contributions to public health at regional and global levels. The recognition was further reinforced by the unanimous decision of the International Evaluation Committee.
