From 8 to 12 September 2025, IHMT NOVA hosted the second edition of the course, which was carried out in collaboration with Fiocruz Paraná – Carlos Chagas Institute (ICC) and the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz), and supported by Global Health and Tropical Medicine (GHTM | IHMT NOVA), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and the International Programme for Science, Technology and Innovation in Health (PICTIS).
During the five-day programme, students and professionals in health and scientific research developed innovative solutions to real-world challenges by applying Design Thinking methodologies to areas such as diagnosis, therapeutics, drug development, experimental models and innovation in biomedical sciences.
Participants worked in groups to structure innovation projects, from redefining the problem to creating prototypes, while also honing their pitching and public presentation skills. Proposals were developed in diverse areas such as project management, animal experimentation, public procurement, and innovation in diagnostics.
This initiative showcased the potential of value-driven science, emphasising the significance of international collaboration and the practical application of innovation within the health sector.
