Location: ZOOM & SALA FRAGA DE AZEVEDO
The preservation of web content is essential for safeguarding digital information and supporting scientific research. Websites, online news and event pages can provide valuable historical records, documenting research activities, scientific achievements and knowledge dissemination. However, this content can disappear or become inaccessible over time.
In this GHTM Session, we will explore Arquivo.pt, an FCT–FCCN service launched in 2007 that preserves and provides access to historical web content. Ricardo Basílio will explain how web archiving works, its criteria and limitations, and how researchers can archive web pages and entire websites, reference historical online content in scientific publications, CVs and reports, and access open datasets. Practical examples and research applications will highlight the value of Arquivo.pt for the scientific community. Join us to discover how web preservation can support research and safeguard our digital memory!
