Maria do Rosário Oliveira Martins, Full Professor at IHMT-NOVA and member of the PPS – Population health, policies and services Research Group, was invited by the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI) to join the Executive Committee monitoring the second phase of the ‘Strengthening the Role of NPHIs in Health Emergencies’ project, which is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Executive Committee brings together experts from prestigious national public health institutes and international partners, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), with the aim of guiding and supporting the implementation of actions that strengthen the capacity to respond to public health emergencies.
This working group will hold monthly meetings for one year to monitor and evaluate the activities of the technical expert group, ensuring that the resulting recommendations and reports are relevant in practice, scientifically sound, and applicable in various national contexts. The Committee will also promote international cooperation in health crisis situations.
